Let Spotify (Knowing the fact Spotify is not Microsoft product) be a real default program. If Spotify becomes default program, we must be able to associate local mp3 files to mp3 player which is Spotify (yes Spotify's team work). Like I have Media Monkey Install and I can associate my local machine mp3 to Media Monkey. Press the Windows button + I to open the Settings app. Click System Default apps. Click Choose default apps by file type. Select each audio file type on the list, and select your preferred application when opening those audio file types.

As for default music player. The only options are the apps listed specifically which to date include YouTube Music, Google Play Music, Pandora, Spotify, and Deezer. How all alternatives are subscription based streaming service. Apps that play direct from music located on handset are not an option.

Set Default Apps For All Users

Set Spotify as your default service for music and podcasts so you don’t need to specify “on Spotify” at the end of your voice commands to play music:

1. Tap the menu in the top-left.
2. Tap Settings, then Music & Podcasts.
3. Tap Choose default music services.
   Note: To set Spotify as your default podcast service, tap Choose default podcast service.
4. Select Spotify and tap DONE.

Note: You still need to say “on Spotify” at the end of commands to play podcasts.

Hi, I recently installed a new Kenwood bluetooth stereo into my car, and I love the fact that when I get in the car it automatically picks up from where I left off in my songs. Only problem is, it plays from the Music app instead of Spotify, and being someone who uses Spotify pretty much constantly, this is a huge pain. The only time this doesn't happen is when I turn my car off and turn it back on less than an hour later (like when going into a store or something). All the other times, even though Spotify is paused in the middle of a song from the last time I was driving, the Music app will select a random song from my library and start playing that instead. I am out of ideas on how to fix this, as I've already tried researching the problem and done the few things that were suggested, such as completely closing the Music app (which didn't work).
